Gambling is an area that is often hidden in comparison to substance use, mental health, and other issues. If gambling, itself, remains in the dark, what do we know about some of the ethics involved in helping those with gambling use disorder. Many professionals will not even realize gambling is an issue until after beginning to address other issues within their own expertise. Suddenly, someone treating substance use or mental health may uncover gambling as a concern. What do they know about assessing gambling? How do they know about treatment methods specifically for gambling-related issues? Exploring gambling-informed ethics helps professionals who specialize in this population as well as as those who have no experience when they encounter gambling among their populations of expertise.
