The Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling (WCPG) is pleased to
be partnering with Concordia University Wisconsin with offering the
WCPG's Gambling Disorder Training Program/Course.Concordia
University Wisconsin will be offering professional development
credit as an option for license renewal. This cost is in addition
to the cost of the training. (1 credit available for phases 1
& 2 and 1 credit available for phases 3 & 4) Cost is
$141.25 per credit. For additional CUW information please
contact Christy Call at Chrsty.email@example.com. CUW Counseling
students, faculty, and alumni may attend free of charge!
The trainer for the Pewaukee program is Jim Harrison, BS, MS,
LPC, CSAC, ICGC-II, BACC Cornerstone Counseling Services,
Jim Harrison is an AODA, Gambling Addictions, and Mental Health
Counselor at Cornerstone Counseling Services in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. He is also a member of the Wisconsin Council on Problem
Gambling Board of Directors.
Mr. Harrison received a BS degree in biology (secondary education)
in 1968, and an MS degree in curriculum and supervision in 1981
from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He has over 35
years of counseling and teaching experience in high school and
college settings. He taught biology, human anatomy and
physiology, genetics, environmental science, human growth and
development, STD education, and HIV/AIDS education. Mr.
Harrison has also written curriculum on substance use disorders,
STD and HIV/AIDS education, human growth and development, futurism,
environmental education, group counseling, and drum circles, as
well as presenting these topics at various professional and
educational conferences and workshops.
Mr. Harrison's treatment specialties include substance use
disorders, gambling issues, mental health disorders, OWI offenders,
alternatives to revocation, pre-sentence investigations, OWI
assessments, Deferred Prosecution Agreement Monitor, Board Approved
Clinical Consultant (BACC), and human growth and development.
Professional affiliations include, NAADAC, WCPG, and NCPG.
The WCPG has applied for Continuing Education Units for 15 hours
each phase with the following: Wisconsin Association for Marriage
and Family Therapy, NASW, EACC, ICGC, and the WI Department of
Safety and Professional Services. Certificate of attendance will be
provided by the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling, Inc.
